Everyone Is Welcome to the Nêhiyawak Summer Gathering 2026

In a time when the cost of attending events continues to rise, the three host Nations have chosen a different path.

The Nêhiyawak Summer Gathering 2026 is open to everyone. There is no admission fee. Instead, visitors are asked to bring a non-perishable food item. A single can of soup, a box of pasta, canned vegetables, cereal, baby formula, or other shelf-stable food helps support families and community members who may need a helping hand. The act is simple, but it reflects something much larger: sharing with one another.

This gathering was created to bring people together, not keep them apart. Families, Elders, youth, neighbours, visitors, campers, singers, dancers, and guests are invited to attend. Whether you come from one of the three host Nations or are visiting for the first time, a place has been made for you.

For generations, nêhiyawak gathered to renew relationships, share food, exchange news, hear teachings, and strengthen kinship. The Nêhiyawak Summer Gathering continues that tradition. The food donation at the gate is more than admission. It is an opportunity for every person arriving to contribute to the well-being of someone else.

Throughout the week, participants can visit the Sacred Fire, spend time with Elders and Knowledge Keepers, enjoy cultural teachings, watch hand games, explore the Teepee Village, visit the Kapawe’no Museum, and take part in activities designed for the entire family. Registered participants will also receive three meals each day.

The message from the three host Nations is straightforward: bring your family, bring your friends, bring a non-perishable food donation, and come be part of something special. Come to learn. Come to visit. Come to reconnect.

The fire is waiting.

The people are gathering.

The welcome has already been extended.
